The importance of chains made of Stygian Steel is indeed very high. The Hierarchy uses these chains and manacles as both a status symbol proving their particular rank within the Hierarchy and as well as a practical use to chain Thralls for enslavement. To own such a chain without the proper allowance from the Hierarchy is a capitol crime which could be punished with the most hideous penalty. The fact that the chains are made out of Stygian Steel makes them incredibly strong against physical and mental affection, this is symbolized in game terms as affecting such chains with any kind of Arcanoi there is a penalty of minus five dice.
As the players have laid their hands on such chains, and with the only knowledge that the chains are
illegal to own and to carry, and that different fractions would be most interested to do whatever is in their powers to get
that particular chain. This of course opens a whole lot of opportunities for the players to infiltrate different fractions,
and buy valuable information. The result is a whole lot of roleplaying and a whole lot of new characters that will be
introduced to the characters. Will the players be able to castigate their Shadow and not let it control them into doing
something stupid?
